Discus
Music Record Label Spotlight
-
Nothing
has been more exciting over the last few years than getting some true
quality music from a record label that nearly 100% qualifies for our
4th Set Space Out like the Discus Music label does. Martin Archer and
company have been putting together wonderful recording sessions and
releases from this excellent label for now thirty years! Founded in
1994 by Martin Archer and Mick Beck, this label originally served as
the CD imprint for their numerous and diverse projects. In recent
years, it has expanded
to feature works from a broad spectrum of artists. The label's only
limitation is the creativity of its musicians, offering a wide array
of sounds that range from electronic rock and free jazz to extended
song forms, improvised music, and other releases that defy easy
classification. To be serviced for radio promos by a label like this
and the great respect that they have had for our program for the last
decade plus is the kind of thing that makes you want to keep pumping
out new programs. Discus Music has been that label for us. We have
decided to feature a in-depth spotlight on Discus Music in the up and
coming weeks that will hopefully include and in-depth interview with
founder Martin Archer! Visit their regular website to see their list
of fantastic releases from their catalog at https://discus-music.org
and also see them on BANDCAMP as well at https://discusmusic.bandcamp.com
and on Facebook by visiting https://www.facebook.com/discusmusic
and keep your ears tuned in, in the upcoming weeks of new programming!

- The
Music Of Nexpo
-
It's
not everyday that you find a particular kind of instrumental track or
theme that makes us jump up and say, THAT'S TOTALLY gagliarchives
FLAVORED! But just recently, we found just that. What is now part of
our backing talk track music and in our introduction on Saturday night
and all of its replays, is the music of the excellent YouTube channel
known as Nexpo. We have
to give a special thanks to Ryan Cantu of the excellent and personal
favorite YouTube channel Nexpo.
Writers and channel reviewers of Ryan Cantu's work describe his
successful, long-standing channel Nexpo
as an analytical YouTube channel specializing in video essays that
delve into internet mysteries, horror websites, and urban
legends within the gaming community. But in fact, it's more than that.
His channels, both Nexpo and Nexpo Nightmares, goes where no channels
go in its extensive and thoughtful production, its in-depth topics,
and its amazing visuals. His channel includes video topics such as
obscure lost media, the Lake City Quiet Pills mystery, mysteries of
online video games, obscure stories from Reddit, the vanishing of
David Lewis, the crash of Flight 123, the internet mystery of
Paranoia.com and many, many others. Just imagine if you will, if
David Lynch made investigative videos covering conspiracies, stories
of intrigue, and even at certain points, seriously intimidating
topics. Ryan does a wonderful job with ambiance of his channel and one
thing that keeps me locked in is the amazing theme music to his
channel that has many different versions and styles. We enjoyed it so
much in fact, we reached out to Ryan to see if we could incorporate
this music into our program which he politely obliged. Some of you who
listen to us religiously on a weekly basis, asked that we have Ryan
Cantu on for this year's upcoming All Hallows' Eve Radio program. Ryan
has stated he is up for a visit to the Saturday night progressive rock
outpost in October, and it is something that you and I cannot wait to
air! We thank Ryan so much for allowing us to incorporate the haunting
music of Nexpo into our radio program.

- Welcome
Our Newest Program Affiliate!
-
As
far back as we can remember, even going back to the FM radio days,
many of you have asked on a near weekly basis, is there any way that
people can listen to the program whenever they want and/or download
the program. While in some instances that could have been arranged, it
became a difficult concept with licensing, the R.I.A.A., BMI and
ASCAP. Without being on an actual radio station or station(s), to have
programs be available for download is next to impossible. Even during
our Twitch days at http://twitch.tv/gagliarchives,
we could not upload that week's radio/video program with 60% of the
program being silenced due to again, licensing issues. While it was
fine when broadcast live, to do it in a pre-record/post record
fashion, would come with so many problems. And that is not fair to
you, our audience. So what we did just recently after sam pling
& testing the various products, we found one that works
beautifully for us. That is our newest, 24 hour radio station at http://radioking.com.
Radioking's mission statement is simple and right to the point.
"To allow everyone to make their voice heard by offering a simple
and powerful tool that makes radio easy and accessible to
everyone." Well said, right? Well now you can listen to the
gagliarchives 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at our new
Gagliarchives Radio station by visiting https://play.radioking.com/radio/gagliarchives-radio.
For fans of our former weekly radio program at the now defunct RCBC
Radio called The Analogue Tapes Series, our new home at https://play.radioking.com/radio/gagliarchives-radio
includes both the old, rare flashback programs from over the last
thirty plus years mixed with sections of our most recent programs,
just as you would hear it on a 24 hour radio station! Do you have
requests for material and/or flashback moments from the archives?
Email us at gagliarchives@comcast.net
with your requests and we will add it to our schedule! Those that
submit their ideas will also win a digital prize package from North
13th Studios as well! Stay tuned for more updates on our weekly radio
program airing on both House Of Prog
Radio & Aural Moon!!

Over the last five years
alone, we have gotten so many great ideas from you, our amazing audience
& supporters. During the pandemic alone, the amount of emails/messages
was mind boggling. We can't lie, it was overwhelming. Myself, along with
the rest of the staffers virtually, had to come up with an organized
system on how to categorize the correspondence because some of the topics
were so amazingly cool and one of a kind, we started compiling them for
Tom & Jack to choose from. But your fearless leader & host decided
to let YOU decide on what the next thematic program should be about in
this first half of 2023's broadcast schedule.
Here are just some of the
ideas we have taken from our audience with Tom's blessing with more polls
to come in the up and coming weeks. Vote now for some of these possible
program ideas. And in the meantime, don't hesitate to keep your amazing
emails of requests coming in! Including your current top lists, thematic
program suggestions for the future, and general music requests! YOU KEEP
US GOING WITH THESE EMAILS!! Keep up the great work! It's these items that
keep our weekly program production motivated in a really big way. Here are
your voting choices:
-

that we have compiled over the years. Some of you requested for us to
also post it on our https://youtube.com/gagliarchives

choose your email, be sure to then send us your physical address or if you
choose a download, we can send that as well! Check out our QR code as well

- RCBC
Radio Is No More.... Just
recently we learned that the remaining ashes of what was 88.9FM WBZC as it
evolved into internet radio only RCBC Radio, is no longer in existence.
The RCBC Radio stream went dead at the beginning of 2023 almost five years
to its creation. This comes literally five years after the original, and
stunning shut down of our beloved 88.9FM/95.1FM/100.7FM WBZC in Pemberton,
New Jersey.
No press release, no phone calls, no documented end chapter for what was
the remaining white dwarf star core of the one time red g iant
that was Z889. I was sad to see it fade into obscurity as we all know your
loyal weekly host, holds the radio station's legacy & memories very
close to the core of what is the gagliarchives Radio Program.
So
we bid a fond farewell to the very young, and now defunct RCBC Radio
channel that only seemed to be created after the thousands upon thousands
feigned their outrage that a beloved FM radio station after 23 years of
service went silent with no forewarning or discussion to try to save the
beloved south Jersey broadcasting icon.
Tom recently said something that stuck in our crew's mind. Z889FM is now
officially dead. And
while Jason Varga worked his tail off in keeping the new beacon lit, he
could only have done so much. They were tying our hands more and more as
the early months of this 'radio evolution' of what was the Z. But much
like our beloved radio station, they have now silenced RCBC Radio.
While I was never there to do production work or program editing, it was
quite prevalent on the face of your Saturday night progressive rock radio
warrior that an era had truly to come to an end. The sting of that is on
top of the pain of seeing the one time Pemberton location of where Z889
once stood turn into an abandoned, decrepit and almost haunting shell of
how it once stood. As
Tom recently said after a quiet pause on the topic "....there are,
and will be ghosts there for years to come. That place was an existential
'home' for me.
I dream of it at least two to three times a week. The one time jewel of a
small two year college that its equipment alone would have had one
thinking that Temple University moved to the Pine Barrens. Farewell, old
friend."

- The
Future Guest List Builds Take III.......................... Our upcoming guests to join us in our virtual North 13 Studios
in 2023 will continue to grow and have already started with a bang!
Check out some of the formulations & ideas brewing
below
coming from the halls of Asylum & North 13th Studios.....
-
Coming
relatively soon on gagliarchives, a most
anticipated guest who isn't in a progressive rock band or project or
supergroup! Well, not yet at least. It's a concept that your host Tom
has wanted to do for quite some time while formulating a 'thematic'
style he creates a few times a year to just take a break from the
bustle of the normal chronological history formula where the show
mixes anniversaries, birthday salutes & new world premiere
releases. 2020 & 2021's forced isolation & having only those
you love & the south Jersey star packed night sky, sparked the
idea of a true astronomy styled musical program in a conceptual show
form where Tom & Jack spotlight genre pieces that celebrate the
outer heavens and the outer reaches of science, and even science
fiction. For this program, Tom will feature albums like Tangerine
Dream's Alpha Centauri, Lancaster
& Lumley's Marscape, Rick Wakeman & The English Rock
Ensemble's recent release that was also a former #1 in the WEEKLYTOP20
last year, The Red Planet and so much more. But Tom also wanted
to have a particular guest join the thematic program as well. Tom had
explained over the course of the past year intermittently on the show
for his heavy interest on his favorite futurist, author, science
fiction writer, and true astronomy deep thinking analyst he can't get
enough of, in the great John Michael Godier. John is also the host of
the wonderful interview/debate program on You Tube titled Event
Horizon. Tom reveres John's work and his most favorite which Tom
will surely touch on, John's Top Ten lists. Tom was to interview John
in the early spring, but as we all know, Tom sadly lost his father,
legendary Philadelphia jazz guitarist, Sonny Troy. Tom has dropped to
me that he is in the works of getting back on the concept, so for
those that have emailed and asked, especially loyal listeners Karan,
Dave, Prashanth, and Ricky who requested the concept as far back as
2004, regardless it will be happening soon! Tom repeat edly has praised
John Michael Godier's story telling, descriptiveness, and his amazing
ability to make an astronomy novice want
to expand their horizons and learn more. I asked Tom what questions he
would be asking John, Tom briefly dropped some of his possible
questions such as John's take on Oumuamua: an interstellar
rock? Or an alien planetary probe? Along with other topics such as the dimming of
Betelgeuse, Pacific ocean UFO anomalies, John's take on New Horizons,
Juno, and the future of planet Venus and if the Soviets accidentally
discovered life 50 years ago. Don't miss this show I can see Tom is
fired up to finally serve to the true astronomy nuts who love the
gagliarchives radio program. While our regular program never
goes a week without a mid-show astronomical event calendar we know as The
Stargazer's Handbook provided by the great people at Sky
& Telescope Magazine. This weekly astronomy forecast is at the
start of the program's third set.

free to let us know who you'd like to see visit Tom North 13th

- Post
Rock anyone?.........................................................
We
have just confirmed with North 13th Studios staffer Sean Mickle to
produce yet another first on the gagliarchives. A thematic genre
spotlight program on the genre of Post-Rock. Sean's a big post rock fan, and Tom
recently pointed out his fondness for Explosions In The Sky, Minus The
Bear, and many other instrumental projects. Tom was over heard telling
Sean, you should put together a mock Playlist and tell me why a
post-rock show would be attractive to our audience. Crazy but true,
and no doubt Sean
is making magic.

- The
Analogue Tapes Series Is Still On Hiatus....
While our spin-off
radio program has been on
hiatus, the return of The Analogue Tapes
Series: Volumes XII to XVI are
in the works including flashback in-studio interviews &
performances from 2000 in Quarkspace, Echolyn, Ken Golden of The
Laser's Edge and his co-produced radio program blockbusters Program
627 - Progmetal Night & the demanded sequel in the late summer
in Program 652 -
PROGMETAL NIGHT II: Night Of The Gods. Those are just to name a
few. Keep visiting this page to see upcoming schedules on The
Analogue Tapes Series. Also, a big thanks to Jason Varga of Endless
Boundaries Radio who has been co-producing & letting the new RCBC
Radio air these lost but not forgotten gems of tape reels!
As mentioned recently, we have
unearthed stacks of our stat-books that documented our pre-digital history
that included original structures to our WEEKLYTOP20, The Lost
Satellite charts, The GPRN's Top
100, and so much more. Most recently we finally have released the long
awaited GPRN Top 100's from the years: 1995;
1996; 1997;
and with 1998 in its final processes. Also added to the website
are the earliest of our tabulations previously compiled. These early
radio program logs helped explain the breakdown of our first four and a half
years of when we were originally The Lost Satellite before we evolved
into the Gagliarchives. You can now see those yearly charts from the
pre-GPRN Top 100 era with The Lost Satellite Top
10 of 1991; The
Lost Satellite Top 20 of 1992; The
Lost Satellite Top 30 of 1993; and The
Lost Satellite Top 40 of 1994. And
it doesn't stop there. We will soon have The GlobalProgressive Rock
Network's Top 100's table page readjustments for the Top 100's of; 1999;
2000; 2006; 2010; 2015; and 2016) Just bear with us as we
finally rectify these issues and as
always.....
